Geography Lab

The place where the students can explore various spheres of our world which will give them hands on experience to understand multiple processes and aspects associated with the subject matter of geography. The lab is specially equipped with the models and modules for the students to get acquainted with practical and realistic approaches. The space and capacity is suitable for conducting practices and activities with comfort. It is well ventilated and calibrated according to the subject requisites.

Geography lab plays a pivotal role in enriching geographical base of a student- a necessary part of learning that exposes students to full spectrum of disciplinary subfields- physical, human and nature-society geography as well as geographical techniques. The lab is well equipped with a series of maps, topographic sheets and variety of survey equipments like tracing table, thermometers, barometer, magnetic compass, electric globe, anemometer, wind wane, standard time indicator and wet and dry bulb thermometers. CDs related to different topics are also kept in the lab. Field trips are organised for the students to study the natural occupancy of various facts and inform about physical changes with the help of Global positioning system and Geographic information system available on Net. Geography Lab specializes in the development of qualitative and quantitative research skills in college.

Objective of Geography Lab
  • To introduce students to the fundamental Earth-system processes including the radiation budget, energy flows through food webs, biological evolution and fundamentals of ecosystem structure and function
  • To introduce the students about basic geographical concepts of landforms, climates, minerals, soils and water resources.
  • To give the students comprehensive idea about the development and distribution of the physical environment, regional patterns formed by environmental patterns and processes, and human utilization of the physical environment.
  • This laboratory satisfies the physical science laboratory requirement.
  • To give the students ideas about historical development of environmental problems through the combined lenses of geography, cognate disciplines and the notion of paradigms.
